MAI CHAU & HOA BINH ITINERARY

Day 1

Morning: Rise early for your hotel pick-up in Hanoi and start the journey to Mai Chau. You’ll stop to take a break at Luong Son and then on the stunning Thung Khe Pass where there is a local market run by the Muong people.

Arrive in Mai Chau Valley for lunch where a vegetarian option is available.

Afternoon: Step inside one of the traditional stilt houses to learn about how the ethnic Thai community live and then take a bicycle ride through the village to see more of the community. Stop by the handicraft village to learn about traditional weaving techniques and local designs – you can support them by buying their local products as souvenirs for friends and family.

Check-in to your homestay in Mai Chau. You’ll have some time before dinner to take a shower or wander around the village.

Enjoy dinner cooked by your hosts and sample the homemade rice wine with the family, before enjoying their traditional Thai dance performance.

Day 2

Morning: Rise early with the sounds of the village waking and enjoy a simple breakfast at your homestay.

Hop in the van for the short drive to Hoa Binh Reservoir. Stop on the way at Go Lao waterfall to take a dip and some pictures.

At the reservoir, you will have the chance to try to catch fish with the help of a local fisherman.  Then take a boat trip around the lake. We’ll stop at one of the lakes many islands where you can soak up the cool water and enjoy swimming 

Afternoon: Enjoy lunch in the village and take a rest before a short trek to meet your driver. Then it’s time to say goodbye to the Mai Chau valley and head back to Hanoi for the evening.
