The museum opens from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM every day. On special Vietnamese occasions such as Tet Holiday, opening hours may change under notice from the museum.

Fine Arts Museum has been preserving and promoting the cultural and artistic heritage of Vietnamese ethnic groups. It is part of the system of Vietnamese national museums under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

This museum was built during the French colonial period in the 1930s, serving as a study place for French officials’ daughters.

In 1962, the building was renovated to exhibit Vietnamese artworks that date back to prehistory. As a result, the architecture of Hanoi Fine Arts Museum was modified from its original European style to incorporate Vietnamese architectural elements.

Vietnam Fine Arts Museum was officially opened for visitors in 1966 with a total area of 4,200 square meters and an exhibition area of 1,200 square meters. Between 1997 and 1999, it was expanded to a total of 4,737 square meters and an exhibition area of 3,000 square meters.
